Who to write to
Who represents you
A data center application is decided by people who have names, offices and email addresses. This finds the ones who represent a particular address in Loudoun County, and gives you every way of reaching them that the county publishes.

Where this comes from
Everything above is read live, in your browser, from Loudoun County's
ElectedReps_Data feature service — the same service behind the county's
own representative lookup. Three layers: county officials by election district, the
Virginia House of Delegates, and the Senate of Virginia.

What this page does and does not know
County offices are exact: the county draws its own election district lines and this reads them directly. State offices are exact too when you search an address or use your location, because House and Senate boundaries are queried with the same point.
They are not exact when you pick a district from the list. House and Senate lines cut across the county's election districts, so that route reads them from a point in the middle of the district you chose. Where that happens the page says so on the result itself rather than leaving you to assume.
Some contact details the county holds are blanks or placeholders — a school board
address recorded as ?@lcps.org, for instance. Those are dropped rather
than shown, because a mailto link that goes nowhere wastes the one message somebody
was going to send. If an official appears here with no way to reach them, that is
what the county's record contains, and the office's own page is the next stop.
Photographs are the county's, served from its own image host. A few of the URLs point at files that are no longer there; those officials get their initials instead.
What is sent where
This lookup runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type or look up on it is stored, logged or sent to this project — there is no code here that could, and the only requests it makes are the two below.
- Device location and district picks: coordinates go to Loudoun County's ArcGIS host and nothing else.
- Address search: the text you type goes to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim, because coordinates have to come from somewhere and the county publishes no geocoder. The coordinates it returns then go to the county. If you would rather not do that, use your device location or the district picker — neither touches OpenStreetMap.
Filing a report is separate and works differently again: a report's published pin is deliberately offset from the address given, and reporter names, emails, phone numbers and street addresses are never published. See the privacy policy for how that works.
